WTF!!!

[glow=red,2,300]Some of you know what happened to me on Fri night just gone, some of you don't, but I just thought I would have a little rant on here about the state of the UK police force, WTF does it come to when a person gets arrested, after attempting to help stop a woman from being raped!!!
Not only did my m8 and myself merely defend ourselves after this wannabe rapist started throwing punches at us, we only wanted to restrain him for the police to deal with him, but no we all get arrested for assault and affray!!!!
Then had to spend 10hrs or so in a freezing cold cell before finally having our statements taken, to top it all off the woman we helped is refusing to press any charges against this F****** pervert.
Now I am on police bail until Dec the 21st, so guys n gals if I am not around after then you know why.........
Hopefully it wont come to anything, but I seriously hope the police keep a very close on this guy, as I said when being interviewed, what would have happened if we had not come along, she could have been raped or worse still murdered!!!
What would you have done? would you have helped? or would you have turned the other cheek?[/glow]

All i can say is typical bloody police.
If i was in the same spot i probably would have beaten the guy to a pulp and be in jail for GBH.
I know lots of people who have had countless SHIT from the police, for no reason.
One funny story springs to mind, but too long to post.

And they wonder why no-one has any respect for the police.

hey buzz dont sweat it lol more likely the jackass is going to get off the hook and you should not have any problems if your lawyer is ok you were just helping a fellow native out in some states over here if you r seen and you didnt help out some one who was in that kinda trouble you could do time in the big house which i think is kinda wrong but dont stress out bout it

Buzz this is easy for one to say thats not involved but I can't see how they can seriously charge u with the above offences.
You acted in the publics' interest,you defended yourself with reasonable force,like for like.
He's probably made a complaint about u restraining him so the police have to act upon his complaint hence u being on police bail(so they can investigate,unfair i know but thats the way it is)
Strange why the woman wouldn't make a statement/press charges,perhaps she knows him?
Can u get access to any CCTv footage?
Any witnessess?
Has she indicated in any way that she was attacked by this man.?
If so and the police have this on record I honestly can't see hwo they can bring a charge of assault and affray on you.
It wouldn't be in the public interest,the CPS will or should throw it out.
you could always highlight the case and bring it to ur MPs attention not mentioning ur local paper.
Only wish there were more like u adn ur pal around.

[glow=red,2,300]Thx Grim, Widow as to the lady in question, no she does not know the guy, also she has now at least gone down and made a complaint against him, so that at least will help, 11 days and counting and I at least will find out what will happen, You know the strangest thing? If I was in the same situation now, I honestly dont know whether or not I would go and help, looking back at all the hassle and the sleepless nights this has caused me.
But being the kind of person I am, I probably would go to the defence of another, whether it caused me trouble or not...
I am not a vigilante as the policewoman who interviewed me asked if I was, my reply a defiant NO, but merely someone who knows right from wrong, and it most certainly is wrong for a man to assualt a woman in any way shape or form![/glow]

Be proud of what you did and for being a decent fella who never turned the other cheek when seeing a woman in distress.
It's sad that it has came down to you more or less being portrayed as the bad guy in all of this.

I have to go back to the police station on Jan 9th, but been told not to worry about it by the police officer involved, the pervert tried to press charges, but has had a change of heart.... Now got to see what the cps will do with the case, been told it should be kicked out and further action taken.....Wait and see huh.....[/glow]

I had a phonecall off the policewoman who was dealing with this, earlier on today, told me I or my friend had no need to go back to the police station now whatsoever YAYYYYYYY.

Now I can finally get this episode out of my head.......


P.s. also found out the pervert tried to press charges but then dropped them, probably after realising he would have to speak up in front of all his friends and family in court.....[/glow]
